Tips to Stay Winter Fit

Stock up on frozen fruits and vegetables during the winter. Tasty, fresh produce can be hard to find or expensive during cold months, so check your freezer aisle for favorite fruits and veggies, which are frozen at their peak of freshness.

Make sure not to overindulge on calorie-laden foods at holiday parties by eating a small dinner or hearty snack before you go. Special seasonal coffee drinks are often made with whole milk and tons of sugar. If you're looking for a tasty hot beverage, try a new flavor of tea or sugar-free hot chocolate. If you really want a seasonal indulgence, try adding a bit of Irish Crème or Crème De Mente to fat and sugar free hot cocoa. Spending time in the airport on your way to visit family for the holidays? Grab the kids and do a couple laps around the airport to stay moving and active, especially if you have a long delay or layover. You can burn hundreds of calories "waiting" to board the plane and eliminate the need to workout. Walk the stairs in your house or apartment complex when it's too cold to venture out for a gym or outdoor workout, and plan to get workouts out of the way in the morning. When it's dark out or early in the day, the motivation sometimes wanes.

Make sure to have healthier versions of your favorite comfort foods on hand: buy the ingredients to make them yourself and/or have Weight Watchers Smart Ones Frozen Entrees like Macaroni and Cheese or Salisbury Steak in the freezer. When you come in from the cold, you’ll likely want something warm and satisfying that can be prepared in minutes. Turn to healthier stews and other satisfying meals that are hearty and comforting, but not filled with fat and calories. Bring your own low-fat baked goodies to the office or to the next holiday party, so you can partake in the festivities, but eat something you won't feel totally guilty about later.

Tuck a few healthy snacks in your bag to bring with you when you go holiday shopping. Trail mixes, granola bars and nuts are great snacks on the go and will help you avoid impulse eating at the mall food court!
